Design Team Extension

Design team extension for one designer doing ten people’s work

Trusted by SF’s top AI & SaaS companies

What usually brings teams here

This is a capacity problem everyone tries to solve by hiring, and hiring takes four months you don’t have.

Start a trial week
  1. Your one designer is the company bottleneck.

Product, marketing, sales and the founder all need something. There’s one week.

  2. Hiring a senior designer takes four months.

By the time they start, the quarter you needed them for is gone.

  3. Freelancers keep disappearing mid-project.

Every restart costs you the context you spent three weeks transferring.

  4. Your agency needs a brief for a two hour job.

The process overhead beats the work, so small things stop getting done.

  5. Quality varies by whoever was free.

No system and no consistent hand, so the product looks like four companies.

  6. You need design now and headcount later.

The work is real and continuous. A permanent hire isn’t the right call yet.

What design team extension covers

User research & interviews

When there’s a question about users rather than a request for a screen, your embedded designer runs it. Interviews, session reviews, support ticket analysis and testing, sized to the sprint rather than to a research project.

Typical outputs:

  1. User interviews
  2. Session recording review
  3. Usability testing
  4. Findings for your team

Some of our work

How we work with your team

(01)

The audit is free, and first

Every engagement opens with an audit at no cost. We find the real problem before anyone opens Figma.

(02)

One embedded team

A senior designer joins your Slack and your sprint rhythm. There is no account manager relaying notes between us.

(03)

We ship in weeks, not quarters

Work moves in two week cycles, and something is reviewable at the end of every one. You are never waiting on a big reveal.

(04)

Feedback in 24 to 48 hours

The one commitment that decides whether this lands on time. We make it, and we ask you to make it too.

Why Bricx

We’ve been part of a client’s design team for nine months straight, through two rebrands and three product versions. The real test isn’t delivering a project. It’s still understanding the product a year in.

01

A designer, not a manager

A senior designer from our team joins your standup and your Slack. Nothing gets relayed or passed down a chain.

02

Weekly planning, not an SOW

Every week we plan what needs doing that week. The scope is your backlog, not a document from month one.

03

Pause it when it’s quiet

Ramp down in a quiet month, restart when ready. Fifteen days notice, month to month.

04

Taste is the product

AI does the UX thinking now. Layouts, flows, first drafts. What it can’t do is the last ten percent.

You get a senior designer in days rather than four months, backed by a design lead and a specialist when the work needs one. You can pause it, and you’re not carrying the hire through a quiet quarter. When the volume justifies a permanent hire, we’ll tell you.

Retainers start at $10,000 per month. No lock-in, no contract, and fifteen days notice. A second workstream is priced on scope.

Yes. We run a paid trial, either a week or a defined milestone such as one hero section. We prefer the milestone version because it maps to a deliverable rather than a calendar.

You pause the retainer and restart when ready. We’d rather you pause than pay for capacity you aren’t using, because the alternative is you leave.

A named senior designer who stays on your account, plus a design lead across the work. Both founders work on projects personally, so you aren’t handed to a junior after the sales call.

Weekly planning, then Slack. That’s the whole process. If briefing us costs more than doing the work, the model has failed.

Feedback inside 24 to 48 hours, one decision-maker who can approve direction, and your copy on the schedule we agree in week two. Projects that slip almost always slip on one of those three.

A freelancer is one person with one skill set and no cover when they disappear. You get a named senior designer backed by a design lead, plus motion, brand and frontend from the same retainer, and the context survives when someone is away.

Every file, and you own all of it. Design source, component library, documentation and, where we built it, the code in your repository from the first commit. Nothing sits behind our account and nothing needs our permission to use.
