Siddharth Vij is the Co-Founder & design lead at Bricx, a website and UX design agency working with B2B and AI SaaS companies.

Ramotion is a San Francisco agency that designs brands, websites and products for tech companies, and its portfolio is strong.

What's harder to find is the information that decides the hire: what it costs, what the contract asks of you and how long the work takes.

Ramotion is good at what it does.

It holds a 4.9 on Clutch, it designs and builds in-house, and it's one of the few agencies at its level that publishes its prices.

It's also expensive. Brand projects start at $60,000 before the website, and the contract leaves little room to change direction once work begins.

I've spent years hiring designers and selling design work to software founders, though I haven't hired Ramotion myself.

This review covers what you can check before a first call: the real cost of each package, the payment and refund terms, project timelines and what 29 Clutch reviewers say.

TL;DR

  • What Ramotion does: brand strategy and identity, marketing websites it designs and builds, product UI/UX, and embedded design and engineering teams. It's a San Francisco agency, founded in 2009.
  • Pricing: a 1 to 5 page website costs $25,000 to $60,000, brand creation costs $60,000 and a brand redesign costs $85,000. Embedded teams start at $9,500 a month.
  • Contract terms: Ramotion takes 50% upfront and only gives refunds in the first week, minus a $5,000 fee.
  • Timelines: a brand takes about 3.5 months, and a product redesign takes four months or more.
  • Clutch reviews: 4.9 from 29 reviews. Clients praise the quality and communication, and the complaints are about cost and pace.
  • Best fit: Ramotion suits established tech companies planning a full rebrand, with a budget well above $50,000 and time to spare.
  • Best Ramotion alternative for funded B2B SaaS: Bricx, which handles the website, the product and the build with one senior team.

What is Ramotion?

Ramotion is a brand, web and product design agency founded in 2009 and run by CEO Denis Pakhaliuk.

It's headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Los Angeles and New York, and Clutch also lists Austin. It does three kinds of work:

  • Brand: strategy, naming, visual identity, iconography and motion identity
  • Websites: design plus the build, in Webflow, WordPress or Jamstack
  • Product: UX audits, product UI, design systems and, more recently, full engineering teams with front-end, back-end, DevOps and QA

Developers may know the name from GitHub, where Ramotion's open-source UI animation libraries, such as animated-tab-bar and folding-cell, have more than 10,000 stars each.

Headquarters San Francisco, with offices in Los Angeles and New York
Team size Somewhere between 31 and 70 people, depending on the source
Services Brand, websites, product design and product engineering
Starting price $25,000 for a website, $9,500 a month for an embedded team
Hourly rate $150 to $199
Clutch rating 4.9 from 29 reviews

The team size is worth asking about. The about page says 70 experts, Clutch says 10 to 49 employees, and LinkedIn lists 31.

Whatever the real number, what matters is who sits on your project.

The about page also lists 350+ projects and more than $6 billion in client exits, figures I had no way to check.

How much does Ramotion cost?

Ramotion publishes its prices, which few agencies at this level do.

Websites start at $25,000, brand work at $60,000, embedded teams at $9,500 a month, and the hourly rate on Clutch is $150 to $199.

Read the asterisks, though. Both brand prices exclude the website.

Package Price What's excluded or extra Timeline or term
Brand creation $60,000 A 1 to 5 page website is another $25,000 to $60,000 3.5 months
Brand redesign $85,000 Website design (about 7 pages) is another $45,000, plus development 3.5 months
Brand team extension $9,500 a month part-time, $16,800 full-time 3-month minimum
Product redesign $70,000 for design Discovery is a fixed $35,000, and engineering is $40,000 a month 4-month minimum
Product discovery From $25,000 a month for a pod A solo expert starts at $12,000 a month 3-month minimum
Product delivery From $45,000 a month for an engineering team Pods range from $10,000 to $90,000 a month 6-month minimum

In practice, a startup that wants a new brand and a five-page site is looking at $85,000 to $120,000 before any product work.

A product redesign with discovery, design and four months of engineering comes to about $265,000.

If you're pricing a website on its own, my breakdown of website redesign costs shows where that money usually goes.

Some prices also differ between pages on Ramotion's site.

A solo discovery expert is $12,000 a month on the packages page and $10,000 on the discovery page.

The product redesign page also prices design and engineering "based on total scope" instead of the fixed figures above.

Ask for a written quote before you budget.

What are Ramotion's payment and refund terms?

Ramotion asks for 50% upfront.

If you pause or cancel in the first week, you get your money back minus a $5,000 service fee, and after that there are no refunds.

These are the other terms worth knowing:

  • Changing direction: switching concepts once execution has started means restarting that phase or moving to time and materials, and a full change of direction isn't included once implementation begins.
  • Going quiet: if your team doesn't respond for more than a week without notice, Ramotion may treat the project as closed.
  • Custom scopes: custom packages "typically cost several times more" than the listed ones.
  • After launch: most clients move to time and materials or a monthly maintenance retainer.

An upfront deposit is normal. Across the 57 agencies benchmarked in The State of UI/UX Design Agencies 2026, about half asked for a deposit followed by milestone payments.

The part to plan for is how little room there is to change your mind.

If your leadership is likely to rethink the direction mid-project, agree what that costs before you sign.

None of the pages cover IP ownership, so put that in the contract too.

Is Ramotion expensive compared with other agencies?

Yes. Set against the quotes in the same study, Ramotion sits at the top of the market on almost every line:

  • Hourly rate: US agencies averaged about $150 an hour, and the highest quote was $195. Ramotion charges $150 to $199.
  • Websites: a 5-page website had a median quote of $25,000, and only 17% of agencies quoted above $50,000. Ramotion starts at that median and goes up to $60,000.
  • Brand: a brand refresh without a logo had a median quote of $15,300. Ramotion's brand creation is $60,000, though it also includes strategy, guidelines and a pitch deck. If brand is the main job, it's worth comparing a few branding agencies for startups at different price points.
  • Product teams: monthly product design subscriptions had a median near $7,000. Ramotion's product design pod starts at $18,000 a month.

How long does a Ramotion project take?

A brand takes about 3.5 months, and a brand redesign can stretch to 7 months on the program page.

A product redesign has a four-month minimum, after a discovery phase of four to eight weeks, and an embedded product delivery team has a six-month minimum.

That's slower than most of the market. Among the 57 agencies benchmarked, 54% quoted four to eight weeks for a brand refresh, and only 8% quoted longer than eight weeks.

The extra time comes partly from the process: Ramotion works in stages, and each one ends with a screencast and a presentation, followed by a feedback call.

There's a lighter startup version with fewer approvals, so ask for it if you have a launch date.

Who are Ramotion's clients?

The client list is the strongest part of Ramotion's pitch.

Its 26 case studies include an identity system for Firefox, iconography for Stripe, micro-interactions for Salesforce's Lightning Design System, and work for Netflix, Okta, Adobe, Citrix, Xero and Opera.

Ramotion's Clearbit website case study, one of the few B2B SaaS website projects in its portfolio. Source: ramotion.com.

For a SaaS buyer, the most relevant cases are the website projects:

  • Clearbit, a B2B data platform: a website redesign (Clearbit is now part of HubSpot)
  • Puzzle, an accounting product for startups: a UX-focused website redesign
  • Turo, the car-sharing marketplace: a support portal redesign, with a reported 30% improvement in users finding answers
  • Descript, the audio and video editor: brand identity and website
  • Quantexa, a data and AI company: a scalable web experience

About a dozen of the 26 cases are brand or identity work, five are pure website projects, and the rest are product or app UI.

Most of the numbers on them describe the client, such as Citrix's 16M+ cloud users or Island's $4.5B+ valuation.

Those figures show the size of company Ramotion works with, and they don't measure what the design achieved.

Recent work shared on Ramotion's LinkedIn page includes a dashboard for Borea AI, an AI investing platform, and the merger of Holidu and Bookiply under one brand.

On Clutch, Ramotion's reviewed clients are 50% mid-market, 30% small business and 20% enterprise, and the most common project size is $50,000 to $199,999.

Software is only part of the mix, with consumer products at 25% of its industry focus.

If a SaaS website is the main job, it's worth checking Ramotion against the SaaS website design agencies that do little else.

Ramotion reviews: what clients praise and complain about

Ramotion Clutch review insights showing a 4.9 overall rating from 29 reviews, with top mentions of high-quality work, communication and project management

Ramotion has a 4.9 average from 29 Clutch reviews. Clients rate quality and willingness to refer at 4.9, schedule at 4.8 and cost at 4.6.

The praise mentioned most is high-quality work (13 mentions) and communication (11), then project management and timeliness (6 each).

Most of that praise is old, though. Only one of the 29 reviews was posted in the last three years, and most of the rest date from 2013 to 2021, including a 5.0 from Mozilla's marketing team in 2019.

The complaints fall into three groups:

  • Cost. It's Ramotion's lowest score. A HackerRank reviewer found the price tag "a little high for our taste," and others asked for a lower rate or a bigger team for the money.
  • Pace. The lowest-rated review, from the Director of Growth at Murf AI in May 2025, scored Ramotion 3.5 on schedule and cost, and Clutch's summary of it says the team "needs to improve its pace." The same reviewer wanted copywriting and web development expectations managed better.
  • Capacity and billing. Two older reviews, from 2014 and 2018, say the team was busy and should grow, and an Open Colony reviewer wanted a fixed-bid option instead of flexible billing.

That one recent review is also the most critical. Before you sign, ask Ramotion for a couple of recent clients you can speak to directly.

I found no Reddit threads about Ramotion as an agency, so Clutch is the best independent record available.

What is it like to work with Ramotion?

Expect a large team with a dedicated project manager as your main contact.

A brand redesign is staffed with up to ten roles, from a brand strategist and copywriter to a motion designer, web developer and QA engineer.

That's a bigger team than most. Across those 57 agencies, only 22% put six or more specialists on a project.

You get depth at every step, but you also get more handoffs than you would with a small senior team.

  • Day-to-day contact: every agency in the same study named Slack and Figma as its main tools. Ramotion's process centres on presentations, and one Clutch reviewer said email-only collaboration meant repeating requirements, so ask how daily communication works.
  • Embedded teams: Ramotion now sells designers and engineers by the month, and a recent post on its LinkedIn page argues that design capacity should "grow with the work." This suits a team with a long backlog.
  • Naming: Ramotion will name your company but doesn't register trademarks, so you'll need a legal partner for that step.

Ramotion pros and cons

Pros Cons
Clients include Stripe, Salesforce, Firefox and Okta Among the most expensive agencies: $150 to $199 an hour, brand from $60,000
Prices, timelines and payment terms are public 50% upfront, with no refunds after the first week
Brand, website, product and engineering under one roof Changing direction mid-project means restarting a phase or paying hourly
Large teams with strategy, copy, motion and QA roles Brand projects take about 3.5 months, slower than most agencies
4.9 from 29 Clutch reviews Recent reviews flag pace, and cost is its lowest Clutch score
Options from a fixed $35,000 discovery to monthly product teams Prices differ between pages, and IP ownership isn't covered

Is Ramotion worth it?

Ramotion is worth it for an established tech company that wants a complete brand system and a matching website from the team behind Firefox and Okta.

You'll need the budget for it, and a few months to spare.

It's a harder fit if you've just raised and need the website or product redesigned in weeks.

The same goes if you want a small senior team you can work with every day, or if your first budget is closer to $25,000.

I keep a longer list of questions to ask a design agency, but if Ramotion is on your shortlist, these are the ones I'd ask on the first call:

  • Who exactly is on my project, and how senior are they? With team size ranging from 31 to 70 depending on the source, the names matter more than the headcount.
  • What's the all-in number? Ask for brand, website design and development in one quote, since the package prices leave the website out.
  • What happens if the direction changes? Get the cost of restarting a phase in writing before you pay the 50% deposit.
  • Is the startup process an option? If you have a launch date, the version with fewer approvals is the one to ask for.
  • Who owns the files and the IP when the project ends?

If you're still building a shortlist, I've compared the main Ramotion alternatives for SaaS product and web design.

How I researched this Ramotion review

I built this review from these sources:

  • Ramotion's site: the startup packages page, the six program pages, the about, services and process pages, and the 26 case studies
  • Clutch: Ramotion's ratings, rate card, client mix and every review on the profile, including the critical ones
  • Public profiles: Ramotion's LinkedIn company page and GitHub
  • Market benchmarks: The State of UI/UX Design Agencies 2026 gave 57 design agencies the same brief and compared what each one quoted, how it staffed the work and how long it said delivery would take. Wherever this review compares Ramotion to "the market", the figure comes from that study.
  • Reddit: searched, with no threads found about Ramotion as an agency

Ramotion alternative for funded B2B and AI SaaS teams: Bricx

If this review left you worried about Ramotion's cost, its timelines or how hard it is to change direction mid-project, Bricx is the alternative I'd look at for a funded B2B or AI SaaS company.

Bricx is a premium design partner for B2B and AI SaaS companies that treat design taste as a moat.

Bricx works only with software companies and includes design engineering, so the team that designs the website or product also builds it.

When to choose Bricx over Ramotion

Bricx fits when a SaaS company has just raised or is heading into a launch and needs the website, the product and the build handled by one senior team.

That's the situation where a 3.5-month brand package and staged approvals tend to get in the way.

Billdr is a recent example. It's an AI operating system for general contractors, and Bricx built both its brand and its AI-first website.

What Bricx covers:

How Bricx engagements work

Bricx runs fixed-scope projects, monthly retainers, embedded teams and paid pilot sprints, so the setup matches the job, whether that's a defined launch or an ongoing partnership.

A paid pilot sprint is also a lighter way to test the fit before you commit to a full project.

Why SaaS teams trust Bricx

Bricx holds a 5.0 rating on Clutch across 32 verified reviews.

Over the last two years it has shipped 50+ websites for software companies, for clients including Writesonic, Sybill, Hobbes and CAMB.AI.

It's also a Webflow Certified Partner and a Framer Expert.

Billdr's own review is worth reading if timelines are your worry. Clutch's summary of it says the team was three weeks ahead of the original project schedule.
